Instructions for Research Paper

 

  1. The length of your papers must be at least 6 and no more than 10 pages.

  2. You must submit your paper to me as an e-mail attachment at the latest on Sunday midnight before your oral presentation. I will forward your paper to all participants for whom I have an e-mail address. My e-mail address is: holdsworth@dhlaw.de. If you cannot e-mail your paper, please prepare copies of your paper to hand out to all of your classmates one week before your presentation.

  3. You must include a bibliography of the works that you relied on. The works you refer to must conform to recognized citation rules. I recommend that you use the following rules: http://www.law.cornell.edu/citation/

  4. Extensive footnotes are not required, but even if you include footnotes, you must also include a bibliography in your paper.

  5. Your bibliography must include a list of all cases and statutes referred to in your paper. You must use the official citation.

  6. Background material for your paper can be found on the course website under: http://www.dhlaw.de/eng/elt/ResTopics.htm

  7. Your paper will not be accepted if passages are evidently copied from other sources.
